Starting Thursday 21 January 2021
3.30PM session for KS1 and 4PM for KS2
Something great and interactive for primary age children during lockdown/remote learning!
Research has shown that singing can be good for you on many levels.
Singing encourages a child to express their emotions and sharpens their ability to communicate while exercising lip and tongue movement. But one of the biggest benefits of singing is the repeated use of the ‘memory muscle’. (We have all sung nursery rhymes with our children but as children get older the power of singing in their lives can still be extremely beneficial.)
How will it work?
Each week, on Zoom, we will look at different vocal exercises that will stimulate facial muscles, the body and the brain. We will learn songs through repetition looking not only at different sounds we are making and exercises for safe singing but also story-telling and character building. Repertoire will be Disney and popular songs suitable for each age group.
Who is it for?
Any primary age children. Key Stage 1 (Reception to Year 2) at 3.30pm and Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) at 4pm
Who am I?
My name is Lisa and I am a professional performer and teacher who has worked in London’s West End and taught singing in several top London Performing Arts Schools. I also founded and ran my own stage school in Durham for over 6 years before turning to performing myself. I have been a vocal coach for over 20 years and have many years of experience leading choirs across the country. I am now the music worship pastor for Busbridge and Hambledon Church in Godalming.

Since the first lockdown in March last year I’ve been running “Sing Along with Ted” for pre-school children on Tuesdays at 10AM. Nursery songs and actions on Zoom, which is great fun!
